WACF Awards Grants to Area Schools

May 28, 2023

The Area School Partnership Program at the Watertown Area Community Foundation supports schools through grants for projects which are beyond the scope of the regular school budget.

The WACF board met recently and awarded $9,350 in Area School Partnership Program grants to the following schools:

$2,100 to Castlewood School District for a 3-year subscription to Edpuzzle, a creative e-learning tool for both students and staff.

$2,500 to Florence School District to purchase range and ovens for the new Family and Consumer Science Program.

$2,500 to Hamlin School District to assist with the purchase of GoGuardian classroom management software.

$2,250 to Waverly-South Shore School District to be used to purchase decodable readers and other interventions used in Response to Interventions to assist students in the areas of fluency, comprehension, and spelling.

Area schools within a 30-mile radius of Watertown are eligible to apply. Past Area School Partnership grants have supported the purchase of 3D printers, robot kits, sensory and de-escalation spaces, as well as music and playground equipment.

“Our area schools cultivate our community’s future leaders,” said Cammie Mengwasser, WACF executive director. “The Foundation and its supporters recognize the importance of investing in our schools and ultimately the vitality of the Watertown area.”
