Scholarship Funds of the Foundation

Edward M. & Ruth F. Belatti Music Scholarship (established 1993)
Established by the children of Edward and Ruth Belatti to provide a scholarship for post-secondary study in the area of music to a graduating senior at Watertown High School.

Harriett Cartney & Donald Blankenship Memorial Scholarship (established 2011)
The purpose of the Fund is to provide a scholarship for a student with economic disadvantage, hardship or disability, attending Lake Area Technical Institute.  The donors have a preference that the scholarship be awarded to an Aviation student as Donald Blankenship was a flyer.

Dahl Family Memorial Scholarship (established 2010)
Established by the Roland Dahl family in honor of their dad & mom, a life-long Watertown residents who always tried to make sure young people received the best education possible. Scholarship awarded to a graduating Watertown High School student.

D.A.S.H. Scholarship (established 2012)
(Drug Free-Alcohol Free-Safe-Health) Established by Watertown Police Department to award a scholarship to a graduating Watertown High School student who has an interest in health or a civil servcie related field.

Kimberly Ann Erling Scholarship (established 2007)
Established in memory of Kimberly Ann Erling, a 1971 Watertown High School graduate, to provide a scholarship for post-secondary study in Spanish.

Dean and Ardyce Gackstetter (established 1994)
Gackstetter Family scholarship is awarded annually to qualified Lake Area Technical Institute, Watertown High School graduating senior and South Dakota State University pharmacy students.

Jerry Grotewold Scholarship (established 2016)
Established by Jerry Grotewold to provide a scholarship for a graduating Senior who is studying in an agriculture related field.

Gunter Family Scholarship (established 2014)
A scholarship by the Win-E-Mac Association awarded to students in Minnesota.

Jamie Isaacson Scholarship (established 2018)
Scholarship to a student attending Lake Area Technical Institute, Watertown, South Dakota, enrolled in an industrial field.

Kiwanis Club of Watertown Scholarship (established 2017)
Scholarship shall be awarded to be used to assist students in the pursuit of their academic advancement.

Kliegle Family Memorial Scholarship (established 1999)
Established by Pete Kliegle in honor of his father and his brother, a scholarship to a graduating senior for post-secondary study.

R.P. “Pete” Kliegle Aviation Scholarship (established 2017)
Established by Sheryl Kliegle in memory of Pete to provide a scholarship to a student who has interest in aviation related field.

KXLG-Dean Johnson Family Scholarship (established 2016)
Established by KXLG owner Bob Faehn.  The Dean Johnson Family Scholarship will be awarded to a student that is a resident of South Dakota within 60 mile radius if Watertown entering a post-secondary institution majoring in business or a related field of study .

KXLG-David J. Law Family Scholarship (established 2011)
Established by KXLG owner Bob Faehn in conjunction with David J. Law’s 40th anniversary with radio, the David J. Law Journalism Scholarship will be awarded to a student entering a post-secondary institution to study journalism.

Leadership Watertown Scholarship (established 1998)
To provide two scholarships to be given annually to two participants in the Leadership Watertown program at the Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce.

Lyle Marquis Family Scholarship (established 1993)
Established by the Marquis family to provide a scholarship for post-secondary study to a graduating senior at Watertown High School.

Nellie Marie Newcomb Scholarship (established 1993)
Nellie Newcomb scholarship in Memory of Treva Ginther is awarded to a Watertown High School senior.  Applicant must attended an accredited school in South Dakota college or trade school and have participated in music during high school, have participated in community service or has worked at a job.

Ruth “Ruthie” Olson Scholarship (established 2017)                                                      Established by Chuck Olson in memory of Ruth Olson. This scholarship is for a graduating Watertown High School Senior majoring in English or a related field to include music and theater, at a college or university.

Thomas E. Peterson Scholarship (established 1999)
Fund established to award scholarships to graduating senior high school students who are resident of Deuel County, South Dakota.

Pre-School Schlarship (established 2008)                                                                        Established by Watertown School District to help with pre-school tuition for low income families or families with any unusual financial hardships.

Crystal Quail Scholarship (established 1996)
Established by family of Crystal Quail, a former science teacher at Watertown High School, and advised by members of the Watertown Education Association. Two scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors at Watertown High School. One is for post-secondary study at a four-year institution and the other for post-secondary study at a two-year community college or technical school.

Gene & Mary Lois Reichling Memorial Scholarship (established in 2013)
Established by the Reichling family in memory of their parents. Scholarship is awarded to student based on financing need, character and active involvement in agriculture, 4-H, and/or the Watertown Winter Farm Show.

Frank & Mathilda Rueb Scholarship (established 2005)
Established by Mary Rueb Conner in memory of her parents.  Scholarship awarded to a graduating senior of Watertown High School.

Sheila Jean Rueb Memorial Scholarship (established 2009)
Established by Mary Rueb Conner and Frank A. Rueb III (deceased) in memory of their sister. Scholarship awarded to a graduating senior of Watertown High School student.

Ervin H. & Sybil E. Schafer Scholarship (established 2017)                                                  Scholarship will award any graduates from Watertown High school or Florence attending Lake Area Technical Institute, Watertown, South Dakota, enrolled in courses which are related to agriculture.

Sister Hyacinth Memorial Scholarship (established 2017)                                                  Established by Mary Rueb Conner in memory of Sister Hyacinth.  The scholarship will be awarded to student who has been a foster child and who is pursuing a post-secondary degree and is deemed by the Watertown High School faculty committee to have the highest potential to succeed in earning a degree.

Jesse D. & Jessie E. Vincent Memorial Scholarship (established in 1984)
Established by Velma Vincent to honor her parents by providing a scholarship for post-secondary study to a graduating senior at Watertown High School.
