Our October Local Roots featured nonprofit is the Northern Prairie Arts Council (NPA). This month, we’re spotlighting their mission and sharing ways community members can connect with NPA’s vibrant arts programs.
NPA is all about making art a larger part of our community and making it accessible for everyone to enjoy. NPA is here to support local artists, spark creativity, and bring more cultural experiences to the area. Through fun events, hands-on workshops, and unique exhibitions, NPA helps to enhance our community’s appreciation of the arts—especially visual arts.
One of NPA’s most popular events is Arts Night at the Pub, now in its tenth year. Each month, a featured artist shares their creative journey and answers questions in a relaxed setting at Dempsey’s in the airport. It’s an ideal evening for anyone interested in the arts, whether you’re a long-time enthusiast or simply curious. For those who can’t attend in person, recordings of each Arts Night at the Pub are also available on NPA’s website.
Throughout the year, NPA also offers a variety of art classes designed to help participants explore different mediums. These classes are affordably priced and advertised locally whenever registration opens.
Save the date for Deck the Walls, an annual NPA event happening on Thursday, November 14, from 5 to 9 PM at Dempsey’s in the airport. This event is a wonderful opportunity to meet local artists and authors, discover their latest works, and even purchase unique pieces—just in time for holiday shopping.
