Foundation Summer Fun!

Thanks to Foundation supporters, a whole host of fun is happening in Watertown this summer. Here is just a taste of the activities available to people and animals of all ages.

Women & Giving assisted the Coteau Prairie Master Gardeners with the purchase of supplies for garden boxes at the Boys & Girls Club. Master Gardeners work with club members throughout the summer, teaching them about growing healthy foods and caring for plants.

The Watertown Anglers Association is a new nonprofit organization that offers children the opportunity to learn the sport of fishing. The Foundation board recently awarded a grant to help the Anglers Association purchase life jackets to keep participants safe as they learn. 

The horses working hard all summer hosting Joy Ranch campers are much more comfortable thanks to Giving Back 365 supporters. Ceiling fans have been installed in the indoor arena and cooling blankets have been provided for Watertown’s famous four-legged friends.

In a list of Watertown’s summer attractions made possible by Foundation supporters, Artwalk, the area’s endless walking and biking trails, and the amazing Bramble Park Zoo must all be highlighted. 

Thanks in part to Women & Giving, tokens of encouragement, complimentary books, and a “Finishers” party put the fun in the Watertown Regional Library’s summer reading program.

Town Player’s recent summer children’s productions of The Lion King and Newsies Jr – The Broadway Musical were made possible, in part, by Women & Giving. The Foundation’s Youth Council awarded a grant to the Goss to host the Dakota Players Children’s Theater in August as part of their Passport to the Arts program. The Dakota Players will work with local children to practice and put on a performance on the Goss stage, complimentary to participants and show-goers. Theater programs offer youth the opportunity to develop their talents while building confidence. 

Last but certainly not least, thousands of families have enjoyed Foundation Fields and many more now have the opportunity to enjoy Foundation Plaza long into the future.
