Carter Family Gift Highlights Watertown’s Critical Need for Transitional Housing
November 20, 2024
Milt and Chris Carter have once again demonstrated their dedication to improving life in Watertown with a $10,000 donation to Watertown Cares. This generous gift reflects their commitment to addressing local challenges, including the growing need for more transitional housing in our community.
Transitional housing provides temporary living arrangements with support services to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness transition into permanent housing. Unlike emergency shelters, transitional housing often consists of private rooms or apartments paired with resources to support stability and growth. Watertown Cares operates 612 Flats, a transitional housing facility centrally located near the intersection of Highways 212 and 81.
Chris Carter participated in a recent initiative to explore solutions to Watertown’s housing issues. Through this effort, transitional housing was identified as a key priority to support individuals and families during times of crisis. Both Milt and Chris believe in supporting local organizations that build a stronger community.
“Everyone needs a little help sometimes and food and housing are basic needs that everyone should be able to access,” said Chris Carter. “Watertown Cares is helping individuals and families during a time of transition in their lives. We hope that this donation provides immediate support to Watertown Cares and also shines a light on the importance of transitional housing in building a stronger, more resilient Watertown.”
The Foundation is grateful for the Carters’ leadership and vision in helping build a brighter future for Watertown.
