June 19, 2024

The Watertown Area Community Foundation (WACF) recently awarded $9,932 in Area School Partnership Program grants to schools in Hamlin County, Henry, Summit, and Willow Lake.

The Area School Partnership Program at the Foundation supports schools through grants for projects which are beyond the scope of the regular school budget.

Area schools were awarded the following grants:

  • $2,500 to Hamlin Education Center for a large format printer for photography classes, banners, and fundraising.
  • $2,490 to Henry School District for decodable readers for elementary students.
  • $2,442 to Summit School for flexible seating options for Pre-K to 8th grade students.
  • $2,500 to Willow Lake School for Realityworks RealCare Baby Simulators.

Schools within approximately 30-miles of Watertown are eligible to apply. Previous grants have allowed schools to purchase 3D printers, robot kits, sensory and de-escalation supplies, as well as music, cooking, and playground equipment.

“We are always impressed at the creativity of our local educators and the learning experiences they provide for our young people,” said Cammie Mengwasser, WACF Executive Director. “The Foundation is happy to invest in our area schools as they continue to enhance the education of our community’s students.”

>>>Florence School District received a $2,500 Area School Partnership grant in 2023 which allowed them to purchase equipment for their new Family and Consumer Science program.
