Youth Council

The Foundation’s Youth Council is made up of three high school seniors and three high school juniors. Members visit our community’s nonprofit organizations, learn from local leaders, and determine the recipients of our annual Youth Council grants.

Over $150,000 has been awarded by the Foundation’s Youth Council to youth-serving organizations in Watertown since its inception in 2001.

Current Youth Council members are:

Seniors: Josie Althoff, Isabella Horning, and Halle Olson

The council typically meets monthly during the school year and reviews Youth Council grant applications in late April. Students completing their sophomore year can apply to join the Youth Council in the spring. Members serve both their junior and senior years.

“During my time on Youth Council I have gained so many new skills and experiences. My favorite part has been going out and seeing first-hand what our local nonprofits are doing to benefit our community. My eyes have most certainly been opened to what’s going on behind the scenes, it is truly inspiring how tight knit our community is!”

Halle Olson – Youth Council Member

“I have met some pretty incredible community members during my time on the Youth Council. I also learned more about opportunities available for kids of all ages in our town. There are so many!”
