Professional Advisors

The Watertown Community Foundation has worked with professional advisors since 1979.  We want to help your clients achieve their charitable goals.  When that plan involves establishing a charitable gift fund, the Watertown Community Foundation offers services for administering and managing those funds at no cost to your client.

Building a Custom Plan
Each donor approaches charitable giving with a unique intent.  The Watertown Community Foundation can help you determine the method of giving and the type of fund that best fulfills that intent for your clients.

Key Benefits of the Watertown Community Foundation

•    Simplicity – The Watertown Community Foundation serves as a vehicle for funds to all types of local programs.  Many donors choose the Foundation because they like the convenience of “one-stop” giving.

•    Flexibility – There is virtually no limit to the type of charitable activity that can be accomplished through a named endowment fund, and family members are often involved with the Foundation’s grant making process.

•    Security – Through the years, the volunteer board members of the Watertown Community Foundation have been carrying out the specific wishes of donors.  All donors can be assured the Foundation will be true to their charitable objectives for generations to come.

•    Tax Benefits – The Watertown Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity.  Donors to the Foundation qualify for maximum deductions in the areas of income, gift and estate taxes; in fact, the Internal Revenue Code favors community foundations over private foundations.

•    Permanence – Distributions are made from a donor’s fund only from the earnings on the principal of the gift.  These continue in perpetuity, so your donation will continue to make an impact far into the future.

•    Recognition – With a named fund, donors have a place in the philanthropic history of our community.  Some donors choose to honor a loved one, a friend or an organization; others prefer anonymity.

•    Accountability – Professional fund management, an independent audit, public disclosure of grants and sound volunteer board leadership assure that funds will be used to benefit the community according to donor wishes.

•    Cost Effectiveness – A named endowment within the Watertown Community Foundation pays no tax on investment earnings.  A private foundation pays up to two percent.
